Ellenborough Falls can be a bit challenging to get to as it’s a big detour off the main highway, but if you get the chance, I definitely recommend adding this stop to your itinerary. If you're entering this waterfall as you come down the coast, parts of the road leading to the waterfall are unsealed and quite corrugated. If you don't have a 4WD, just drive slow and carefully. This waterfall is the tallest single-drop waterfall in NSW. There is a viewing platform near the top which has an amazing view of the lush landscape, while the walking track to the base lets you experience the sheer power of the cascading water up close.
Ellenborough Falls is also dog friendly, making it a great adventure for you and your pup. My little border collie sure loved the hike and was having so much fun. Just be sure they are comfortable with stairs as there are roughly 641 to reach the bottom. Also be sure to keep an eye on them in the muddy areas as there are a few leaches around.
