Riding a camel through the desert with Uluru as the backdrop is such a unique way to experience the Australian outback. The camels are gentle and well looked after, and the guides share funny stories about the animals along with interesting insights into the desert environment.

We chose the sunrise camel ride and loved every minute of it. The tour began with a relaxed ride through the red sand dunes, with views of both Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the distance. As the sun rose, the landscape lit up in golden tones and the colours of the rock became even more vivid. We stopped at the top of a dune for some breathtaking photos and to soak in the scenery before heading back. It felt peaceful, almost like stepping back in time, moving slowly through the desert. After the ride, they provide a light breakfast and some refreshments.

Tours start from $90 per person for a 1.5 hour camel ride, and $159 per person for the sunrise or sunset experience that lasts 2.5 hours.
