Taking a scenic flight over the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays is one of the best experiences you can have. If you aren't already convinced that this place is paradise, just wait until you see it from above. You'll pass the over the iconic Hill Inlet at Whitehaven Beach and various islands before making your way out to the reef. Seeing the Great Barrier Reef from above was pure magic and an experience I'll never forget. The different shades of blue and unique coral patterns are so beautiful. Heart reef can only be reached by helicopter or seaplane, and you can't snorkel or dive there since it is protected.

Flights depart from Airlie Beach or Hamilton Island, with prices starting from around $300 to $500+ per person, depending on the tour length and provider. We did a 60 minute scenic flight and thought that was plenty of time.
