Kerið Crater is a striking volcanic crater located in Iceland’s Golden Circle region, famous for its vibrant red volcanic rock walls and turquoise lake at the bottom. The crater is roughly 55 meters deep, 170 meters wide, and 270 meters across, making it an impressive geological formation to explore. Visitors can take a short walk around the rim, which offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, or descend to the lake for a closer look. The rim walk typically takes 20–30 minutes and is accessible to most visitors, though sturdy shoes are recommended if descending. Entry costs approximately 400 ISK per adult, and the site is especially photogenic at sunrise or sunset, when the warm light highlights the rich colors of the volcanic rocks.
