Get ready for one of the most breathtaking sights on the island, Lagoa do Fogo, or the "Lake of Fire."

Tucked away in a volcanic crater, its stunningly blue waters are a must-see, but be sure to check the webcams (SpotAzores) before you go, as fog can roll in quickly.

You can admire the view from the roadside lookouts, or for a real treat, take the steep but rewarding trail down to the lake's edge - it's about a 30-minute walk to the pristine beach.

During the summer months, a convenient shuttle bus runs from the car parks to the main viewpoints (it usually costs around 5€/person). You can check if there is any bus available and make your reservation HERE.
