Located in the heart of Rome's Trastevere neighborhood, the Church of San Cosimato is a hidden gem full of history and culture; the complex boasts a millenary past that dates back to the 10th century. As one of the largest mediaeval cloisters in Rome, it contains many fragments of inscriptions, columns, sarcophagi and other crafted stonework across it's two sides. Visitors can peruse the 15th-century fresco cycles inside the church, admire ornate altars and fountains, and appreciate the serene beauty of the Romanesque Campanile that overlooks the cloister. Whether you're looking for a tranquil respite or a sunny spot to explore Rome's history, the Church of San Cosimato is the perfect destination.
