After a few glasses of wine, the owners of Coombs Old Country Market decided to use goats to trim the grass on their Norwegian-inspired sod roof. Over 40 years later, "Goats on the Roof" has become a beloved Vancouver Island landmark!

The Country Market is a shopping destination in its own right, showcasing artisan food items from around the world as well as locally made products. There is a cafe as well and you can spot the goats from the patio.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Goats of the Roof - it's far too busy for my comfort levels. But I know a lot of people love it, especially families with young kids.
