Rathtrevor Beach is one of the most popular places to go camping on Vancouver Island. And it's so easy to see why - most of the spacious campsites are within 10 minutes walk from a gorgeous, wide sandy beach.

We've stayed at Rathtrevor many times. Not only is the location beautiful, but it's very convenient for the ferry (the Departure Bay Terminal is 40 minutes drive) and it is open all year round.

Scattered with huge Douglas Fir trees, the forested campground has plenty of shade on sunny summer days.

All of the 250 vehicle-accessible campsites at Rathtrevor Beach are reservable. Securing a spot is competitive during the summer months. Reservations operate on a three month rolling window and can be made via the BC Parks website.

From 2026, non-BC residents will be charged an additional $20 per stay, per camping group, at provincial campgrounds.

There are hot showers and flush toilets from mid March to late October, only outhouses in the off season.
