Hossawa Falls

Directions

We visited this waterfall when exploring Tokyo's only village, Hinohara. You follow a winding wood-chipped path through the forest, walking alongside the river below until you reach two Ghibli-like stone bridges leading to a beautiful waterfall. We climbed up a small rocky path to get closer to it and feel the spray and during our time here we only saw a few other couples and locals. We then walked back to the trail entrance and tucked into our picnic lunch on one of the few public benches dotted above the river beside the bridge (if you're travelling by public transport, this spot is just a few minutes walk from the village bus stop). There's also a small cafe at the entrance to the waterfall trail, but it was closed during our visit.
