The Lewis Pass Scenic Reserve is a beautiful spot in the Canterbury region where you can photograph and absolutely amazing mountain reflection scene right from the car park. The area offers stunning mountain views, rivers, lakes, and native bird sightings.

These shots were taken in winter after a heavy snowfall in the pass and the tarn was actually frozen but I was able to crack the ice to create a reflection. I would aim to get here a few days after snow but not freezing temperatures so that the lake isn't frozen.

Photography info: Take your wide angle and mid range zoom lenses (16-35mm and up to 70mm) with you and this spot is best at sunrise and golden hours.
