Lake Poaka is an picturesque, alpine lake located near the small town of Twizel in New Zealand’s South Island that reflects the Ben Ohau range perfectly on a calm day. It is a beautiful spot for sunrise and you can also camp by the lake as it is a Freedom Camping Spot.

If you head there in winter you might be lucky enough to encounter a Hoar Frost where the trees and ground freeze creating a magical winter wonderland.
