Whatipu Beach is a stunning beach located on the western coast of the Auckland Region in New Zealand's North Island. The area has been managed as a scientific reserve by the Auckland Regional Council since 2002 and is an ideal location for photography and escaping the busy city.

One of the more remote beaches in Auckland, Whatipu is only accessed via gravel road and feels a world away from bustling Auckland City with its rugged coastline, black sand beach, hidden caves, secluded ponds and streams, and even a lighthouse. There is a campground you can stay in at the end of the road and the walk to the beach is approximately 15 minutes.
