Purakaunui Falls is one of the most iconic and well-photographed sites in Otago.

Located in the Catlins Coastal Area, these iconic falls are framed by native foliage, creating a picturesque scene that epitomizes the tranquility of the Catlins. The moss-covered rocks and surrounding forest add a touch of mystique to the falls, making them a captivating subject for photographers, particularly during the soft, golden light of sunrise or the ethereal hues of sunset.

The well-maintained walking track leading to the falls allows for different perspectives, ensuring that every angle tells a story of the falls' timeless beauty.

This image was taken in the late morning and on my wide angle lens.
