Dolphin Encounter Kaikoura is a great spot in New Zealand for visitors looking to experience an up close and personal encounter with dolphins.

On my first visit to Kaikoura in 2016 our adventure started with the amazing team at Kaikoura Dolphin Encounter with an epic sunrise departure out into the ocean to find some friendly dusky dolphins. Not long after leaving the dock we were treated with an acrobatic show by these amazing little creatures coming right up to the boat and showing us all their tricks, along with some whale friends!!

We swam with the Dusky Dolphins on 3 occasions during our time out on the ocean and I've never had so much fun in the ocean in my life.

Photography info: From the boat keep a setting of 1/800 and above on the shutter and stick between f/8 - f/11 aperture. A mid range zoom lens (eg. 24-105mm, 70-200mm, 100-300mm) is a good option to have so that you have a range of focal distances when photographing from the boat.
