The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is a unique and special environment, located just 6km away from Nelson's city centre. Providing 690 hectares of protected native bush, it is the largest fenced sanctuary for endangered plants and creatures in the South Island. This grand space provides visitors with many opportunities to explore, uncover and be immersed in its natural beauty; allowing people to learn about the vital essence and spirituality of the environment. With the help of volunteers and dedicated staff, the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary looks forward to connecting people with nature, promoting environmental responsibility, and restoring local and national ecosystems.

There is a beautiful stream and waterfall for photography that I would definitely recommend visiting.
