Area

Esperance is easily one of our favourite places in WA! We've been there several times and never get tired of it. The beaches are spectacular with great surfing/snorkelling, and some excellent hikes in the area.

It's remote remote, though, it's an 8-hour drive from Perth!

So we reckon staying 3–4 days minimum to make the drive worthwhile. Once you’re here, there’s plenty to do without rushing!

Things to do there:

  • See the kangaroos at Lucky Bay

  • Swim at our favourite beach in all of Australia, Wharton Beach!

  • Swim or chill at Twilight Beach, Blue Haven, and Hellfire Bay

  • Drive the Great Ocean Drive, super easy loop 2WD-friendly with unreal views

  • Hike Frenchman’s Peak for some really good views

Good to know:

  • National park entry fees apply for Cape Le Grand NP

  • Summer/Autumn are the best time to visit, but spring is great for wildflowers too

  • Good mix of campsites, caravan parks, and apartments, but book early in peak times
