Esperance is easily one of our favourite places in WA! We've been there several times and never get tired of it. The beaches are spectacular with great surfing/snorkelling, and some excellent hikes in the area.
It's remote remote, though, it's an 8-hour drive from Perth!
So we reckon staying 3–4 days minimum to make the drive worthwhile. Once you’re here, there’s plenty to do without rushing!
Things to do there:
See the kangaroos at Lucky Bay
Swim at our favourite beach in all of Australia, Wharton Beach!
Swim or chill at Twilight Beach, Blue Haven, and Hellfire Bay
Drive the Great Ocean Drive, super easy loop 2WD-friendly with unreal views
Hike Frenchman’s Peak for some really good views
Good to know:
National park entry fees apply for Cape Le Grand NP
Summer/Autumn are the best time to visit, but spring is great for wildflowers too
Good mix of campsites, caravan parks, and apartments, but book early in peak times
