Praia do Almoxarife is renowned for its dark volcanic sand and views of Pico Mountain. It’s a favorite destination for both locals and tourists, offering a serene seaside escape. The beach is well-equipped with amenities, making it an excellent spot for a day of swimming, sunbathing, or picnicking.

On the left side of the beach, there's a spot perfect for jumping into the water, but watch out for the tides as it can get shallow.

Bring a mask and snorkel; when the water is clear, you'll find plenty of fish near the left side. The water is typically calm, perfect for swimming, and lifeguards are on duty during the summer months for added safety.

Where to park: There is a designated parking area across from the beach. There is also plenty of roadside parking.

How long to expect: You can spend the entire day at Praia do Almoxarife, soaking up the sun and enjoying the water. Allocate at least a couple of hours to fully appreciate the beach and its surroundings.

Restrooms: Yes, there are public restrooms available near the beach for visitors as well as outdoor and indoor showers to wash off the sand and salt.

Food and drink: Several cafes and restaurants are located nearby, offering a range of options from quick snacks to full meals. Most are a quick jump over the seawall, no need to drive.
