Attention (!): the base of the waterfall is sometimes closed off, especially in the rain season as during rain water levels can rise quickly and massively, trapping you in that valley! Check beforehand.
A dramatic ~120m twin-stream waterfall pouring down parallel cliffs in Pronojiwo — the most adventurous of the Lumajang waterfall cluster. Also called "Coban Wolu" (Eight) for the eight river crossings on the hardcore route. Note there are two experiences: an easy improved viewpoint ~15 min from parking, and the serious downstream scramble (2–3 hrs each way, multiple crossings, ropes, slippery rock) that needs a local guide. Powerful and beautiful, but the full version is no joke.
Practical info
Entry: ~IDR 5,000–10,000; parking ~IDR 5,000 (bike) / 10,000 (car). Verify on arrival.
Hours: Roughly 05:30/07:00–15:00, last entry 15:00.
Getting there: Tamanayu/Kalibening, Pronojiwo, Lumajang. The trailhead is just before Kapas Biru — easiest as a driver day-trip from Malang/Lumajang.
Best time: Dry-season mornings only. Skip after heavy rain — flash floods are a real danger here.
Photo tips
Wide-angle is essential to fit both streams and the cliff cauldron.
Go just after sunrise or late afternoon — harsh midday sun wrecks the contrast between the bright water and shadowed cliffs.
For the full hike, pack camera gear in a dry bag and protect against spray; tripod helps in the dim gorge.
