Barnafoss, or "Children's Falls," is a stunning waterfall in west Iceland, about 100 kilometers from Reykjavík. It’s right next to the beautiful Hraunfossar falls, but Barnafoss has its own vibe with wild, milky-blue water rushing through a rocky gorge. There’s a bittersweet local legend tied to its name: two kids from a nearby farm tragically fell into the river while crossing a natural stone bridge, and their grieving mom destroyed the bridge to keep it from happening again. Nowadays, you can explore the area on walking paths and take in the falls from viewing platforms—perfect for soaking up the beauty and the bittersweet history of this spot.
