Madeira Itinerary

It's always nice to have a relaxing first day when you first reach a new destination, so I reccomend exploring the capital city of Funchal on your first day. Funchal is a beautiful city to explore, with charming cobbled streets, beautiful coastal views and histroical buildings, it's a perfect introduction to the island of Madeira.

Before leaving this area of Funchal, grab some brunch or lunch from a local cafe. We'd reccomend The Studio, a specialty coffee roasters and brunch cafe serving up delicious food and great coffee.

The next stop is Monte Palace, and one of the best ways to get there is by taking the Funchal Cable Car from the Old Town up to Monte.

The Monte Palace Tropical Garden is a great place to spend the afternoon, with its diverse range of exotic plants, lush greenery and impressive collection of azulejos (traditional Portuguese tiles). If you're into photography, its a great spot to snap some photos!

The most exciting way to get back to Funchal is by taking the Monte Toboggan Ride!

Finish your day at the the Pico dos Barcelos Viewpoint for stunning sunset views over Funchal.
