The 25 Fontes hike and Levada do Risco in Madeira are two of the most popular levada walks, known for their stunning waterfalls and lush forest views. The PR6 Levada das 25 Fontes hike and the PR6.1 Levada do Risco hike are technically different routes, but they share the initial part of the trail so it's easy to join them together. However, you can choose to do one and not the other if you prefer. The Levada do Risco hike is shorter at 1.5km each way, where as 25 Fontes is 4.3km each way.

As of January 1st 2025, Madeira requires tourists to pay a €3 hiking fee for recommended routes (PR trails), to help preserve the island's natural beauty and manage the growing number of tourists. if you do not pay you could be fined up to €50. Children under 12 and Madeira residents are exempt.
