These ruins are a fascinating remnant of Madeira's 15th century sugar cane industry, offering a glimpse into the island's history. Tucked away on the north coast, these well-preserved ruins feel like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. The ruined arch makes an incredible photo spot, especially with the ocean in the background.

The ruins are located at the bottom of the mountain, so there's a bit of a walk to reach it. It's a steep hill, so expect a cardio session on your way back up!

How to get there:

It's not entirely obvious how to get to this spot, as Google Maps directs you to an old road that is blocked. Head to the Cabo Aéreo Café Restaurant and park in the car park. From there, a steep walkway leads down to the ruins.
