Port Alfred is a stunning coastal town situated in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. This little gem was established back in the early 1820s, when British settlers were moved into the area by Lord Charles Somerset due to conflict between the Cape Colony and the Xhosa people. Moreover, this small town proudly honors its royal name giver – Queen Victoria's son Prince Alfred – having proudly received its current moniker following his visit in 1860. Port Alfred offers plenty of attractions for all types of travelers, featuring excellent transport connections, educational institutions, charming shops, natural beauty and breathtaking views. This cozy destination can give you the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
