Pencarrow Upper Lighthouse Park is a historic site situated 8km from Eastbourne in Wellington and surrounded by spectacular coastal views. It is home to Aotearoa New Zealand's first and only female lighthouse keeper, Mary who took on the job of operating the 1859 lighthouse. This remote and picturesque landmark allows visitors to explore the rugged landscape with a walk or cycle out to the lighthouse building (where entrance is limited due to its protected status) while taking in the planes, ferries and yachts that come and go from the harbour. Visitors can also enjoy a picnic by the beach and take advantage of the area's four-seasons-in-one-day weather!
