If you're keen for a walk in Wanaka with a big reward, Mount Iron is a classic Wānaka hike worth checking out. It’s a 4.5 km loop that takes around 1.5 hours, and the views from the top are impressive. You’ll get full 360-degree panoramas looking out over the Southern Alps, Lake Wānaka, the Clutha River, and even across to the Pisa Range.

It’s an intermediate climb that’s super accessible,  just a couple of minutes from town and a great way to get your bearings around the area. It’s popular with both locals and visitors, especially for sunrise or sunset. If you’re hanging out in Wānaka and want a walk with a bit of a view payoff, Mount Iron’s a solid pick.
