Empty Japan

This statue was placed in honor of the renowned novelist - Murasaki Shikibu. Murasaki Shikibu is famous for writing "The Tale of Genji," one of the most significant and influential works of Japanese literature. It is considered the world's first novel and a masterpiece of classical Japanese literature. Murasaki Shikibu's novel provides valuable insights into the court life and cultural practices of Japan during the Heian period (8th to 12th centuries). The ten final chapters of her novel are often called the "Uji-Jujo" because the main stage is set in Uji city.
