Directions

Firehole Canyon Drive is one of Yellowstone’s best hidden gems. This scenic one-way drive follows the Firehole River through a narrow canyon with towering cliffs, and beautiful river views. Since many visitors drive right past it, it often feels much less crowded than Yellowstone’s biggest attractions.

Trail Details
• Distance: No hiking required
• Elevation Gain: None
• Trail Type: Scenic drive
• Average Time: 20 to 30 minutes
• Difficulty: Easy

The drive is about 2 miles long and includes several pullouts where you can stop to enjoy the scenery or take photos. You’ll also pass Firehole Falls, an impressive 40-foot waterfall that can be viewed from the roadside.

Tips:
• Drive slowly since the road is narrow and winding.
• Stop at the pullouts for the best views of Firehole Falls and the canyon.
• Larger RVs and trailers are not recommended because of the tight curves.

Family Friendly: Yes. This is an easy stop for families since there’s very little walking involved.
