Tawharanui Regional Park is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts in the North Auckland region. Located just off State Highway 1 and nestled among farms and vineyards, this hidden gem features many activities for people of all ages. The long, sandy beach on the northern side is perfect for swimming and surfing, while the ecology trail offers a unique way to explore native forests and spot rare New Zealand dotterel birds. The park also features grassed areas above the beach, ideal for picnics amongst the shaded pohutukawa trees. Tent camping spots are available too – but they're in high demand during the summer months, so be sure to book in advance. Whether it's a solo adventure or a family holiday, Tawharanui Regional Park has everything needed for an unforgettable experience.
