Auckland's most famous beach with glittering black volcanic sand and towering cliffs and rock formations.
Piha beach is dangerous for swimming with strong rips, currents and wave surges that can sweep up the beach. Only swim here if you are a confident swimmer and keep between the flags while there are life guards patrolling.
