Waterfall

Wishbone Falls, a 77-meter tall waterfall located at the entrance of the Mt Aspiring National Park, is a great destination for tourists. The striking beauty of this waterfall can be witnessed from the road itself. Swimming in the pool formed due to this waterfall is immensely popular amongst locals and visitors alike. To make the most out of the experience, it is recommended to take a 20 minutes return journey walk through a private land leading up to the falls. A 4WD vehicle is highly recommended for the 49km drive as the Wanaka-Mount Aspiring Rd gravel road has huge holes and cracks with multiple creek fords. Disclaimer signs are present notifying that the road is maintained by the Department of Conservation and that no liability is taken over vehicles entering onto this road.
