Menya Imamura is tucked away in a back alley of Sugamo, just a stone's throw from the world-famous Tsuta. It has earned a dedicated following for its "Chicken Niboshi Ramen," which features a thick, velvety paitan (white soup) made from chicken stock enriched with smoky dried sardines. A highlight of the experience is watching the chef grill the thick chicken chashu over charcoal right at the counter. Many locals prefer Imamura for its shorter wait times and a broth that feels heartier and more comforting than its Michelin-starred neighbor.
