Once a secret local’s gem, this geothermal stream has gained popularity in recent years - and for good reason! Kerosene Creek is tucked away amongst lush native bush. Located south of Rotorua, the stream flows over a series of small waterfalls, creating natural thermal pools that are perfect for soaking and relaxation. Continue following the stream until you reach the large waterfall, a unique natural hot waterfall!

Remember: The creek is often busy with locals and tourists alike, you may want to visit off-peak during the weekday or early morning to avoid crowds. It’s a truly unique gem, so be respectful to other people and look after the environment.

Personal tip: I’m not sure how many other places in the world you can soak in a geothermal waterfall for free! There are no toilets or changing rooms, so keep this in mind and bring your own towel!

Pronunciation: Rotorua: Ror-tor-roo-aa
