Located in the beautiful Karangahake Gorge, Owharoa Falls is a must-visit spot, located right next to the main road. The tiered falls cascade over the rock face, making a beautiful waterfall that changes depending on its flow. It’s an easily accessible location for a picnic and is popular with photographers.

Remember: There is a small parking bay near the falls, alongside the main road. The carpark can get busy over the summer months, it is recommended to avoid midday peak times to secure a spot.

Personal tip: This is also a popular swimming hole during the summer. Stand under the falls and feel the spray, or jump off the rocks into the pool below.
