This is one of the best short walks in Wānaka with views over the lake and towards the surrounding mountain ranges.

Get to Diamond Lake by following the Wānaka-Mt Aspiring Road beyond Glendhu Bay. The Diamond Lake loop track is 1.5 km and approx 30-45 minutes, while the Lake Wānaka Lookout track is 3.5 km and approx 1-1.5 hours.

Remember: New Zealand weather can change drastically, particularly in alpine environments. It is recommended to take a sunhat and raincoat, and apply sunscreen, whatever the weather.

Personal tip: I rate this walk as low effort and high views. The Lake Wānaka lookout is worth it, as is the viewpoint at the top of Diamond Lake.
