The Gargoyles – Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC
The Gargoyles are dramatic volcanic rock pinnacles nestled above Elfin Lakes in Garibaldi Park—featuring steep scree ridges, surreal rock formations, and stunning views over Lava Lake and the Tantalus Range. It’s best tackled as a side excursion from the popular Elfin Lakes route. 📸 The serpent-like rock spires and reflective alpine pools create a wildly photogenic alpine scene.

Time Required: 8–9 hours for a full day hike (or shorter as an overnight from Elfin Lakes)
Trailhead & Route:
Start at the Diamond Head trailhead near Squamish. Hike ~11 km to Elfin Lakes on a wide, gradual trail. From the Elfin shelter, continue ~1 km up a steep, rocky saddle to reach the Gargoyles summit. The final ascent is on loose scree—use caution and proper footwear.
