Johanneksenkirkko, or St. John’s Church, is one of Helsinki’s most beautiful churches – and yet many visitors miss it! Tucked away in the charming Ullanlinna district, this red-brick neo-Gothic church with its twin spires is actually the largest stone church in Finland.

The church is especially magical during concerts or Christmas time when it’s filled with candlelight and music. Even if you don’t go inside, the surrounding park is a lovely place to take a break and enjoy the peaceful vibe of the area.

Tip: Combine your visit with a stroll through the nearby streets of Ullanlinna, which are full of beautiful art nouveau buildings, cozy cafés, restaurants and boutiques.
