If you want to experience a Finnish sauna but with a modern, design-forward twist, Löyly in Helsinki is the place to go. Located right by the sea in Hernesaari, Löyly is not just a sauna — it’s also an architectural landmark. The sleek wooden structure blends into the shoreline and offers amazing views over the Baltic Sea.

Inside, you’ll find a traditional wood-burning sauna and a smoke sauna, plus direct access to the sea for year-round dips (yes, even in winter!). There’s also a stylish restaurant and terrace where you can enjoy food and drinks while watching the sunset.

What to do:

  • Book a sauna session (you’ll get access to both saunas and the sea).

  • Have lunch or drinks at the restaurant or outdoor terrace.

  • Take a dip — locals do it all year round, and the sauna feels extra good after a cold swim.

Getting there:

Löyly is in Hernesaari, about a 10-minute drive or 20-minute bike ride from the city center. You can also reach it by tram or bus, and there are plenty of bike paths along the coast.

Tip: It’s popular, especially in the evenings and weekends, so I recommend booking your sauna session online in advance.
