Description:
Múlagljúfur Canyon is a hidden gem on Iceland’s southeast coast, not far from Jökulsárlón and Fjallsárlón. It is one of the most beautiful canyons in the country, featuring steep mossy cliffs, winding rivers, and multiple waterfalls. From the trail, you also get breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers and valleys. The hike to the viewpoint is about 2 km (1.2 miles) each way, moderately challenging but well worth it for the dramatic scenery. Because it’s less visited than other South Coast attractions, Múlagljúfur offers a peaceful escape with fewer crowds.

Price:
Visiting Múlagljúfur Canyon is free, and parking at the trailhead is also free. Guided hikes that include the canyon are rare, but private South Coast tours covering hidden gems like this typically cost $150–200 USD per person.

⚠️ Caution: The hike to Múlagljúfur is steep and can be snowy or icy in winter. Only attempt with proper winter gear and avoid in poor weather.
