Ce que tu feras

Your 7day trip to Montana, contains the most important parts of Glacier National park.

During this journey you will experience amazing places to chill out, such as Elizabeth Lake, Granite Park Challet and more. You will visit the best hikes with options for their backcountry spots.

Glacier National Park offers thru hikes as well such as the approx 52 mile Northern Loop or the classic North to South route.

There is an entrance fee to every national park, but if you are staying longer in the United States and planning to visit more national parks, it’s better to buy an America the Beautiful Park Pas (since 2026 the price increased to 250USD for non residents and stay for 80USD for residents).

Always check conditions on nps.gov. Going to the sun road can stay closed until end of June or mid July, depend on snow conditions. If you wanna book a shuttle or enter Going to the Sun Road between 7AM to 3PM, you have tu reserve time entry slot on nps.gov or you can enter withou time slot before 7AM or after 3PM. Always check in advance websites if the trail you wish to visit is open. There is lot of closures because of grizzly bears. It's always written on nps.gov, AllTrails.com or you can check it at visitor centers or in Many Glacier Hotel. I'm adding GPX for most of the mentioned hikes. PM me or check my blog, YT channel or instagram when you wanna be part of my travel family.

Be aware that all hotels and camping spots are sold out in really short time so you have be really quick or you can just use an iOverlander II app and find a sleeping spot there, but it can be also tricky during the season. We found out that some spots are marked that you can not sleep there, but it mostly because of people who prefer to hang at these spot and stay there longer, mostly you can just spend there a night if you get there late and leave early (leave no waste of course).

Before You Go

Glacier National Park is full of wildlife, it’s real wilderness. And that’s exactly what makes it so unforgettable… but also something you should respect.

One of the biggest topics you simply can’t ignore here? Bears. Check "Bear country safety" in my travel tips.

Signal & Connectivity

Cell service in the mountains can be unpredictable. Most of the time it’s manageable, but don’t rely on it 100%.

A solid backup is using an eSIM for data, which can help you stay connected without switching physical SIM cards.

I recommend using Saily with my code "Miska" for 10% off, or "MICHAE90689" for 5 or 10 USD off depending on your purchase amount.

Water & Hydration

Don’t underestimate water. You won’t always find a reliable water source on the trail — so always carry enough water with you.

If you’re planning to refill from lakes, rivers, or streams, make sure you have a proper water filter. Even crystal-clear glacier water can contain bacteria or parasites that can cause serious health issues.

A lightweight filter like the Sawyer Mini Water Filter is a popular choice among hikers — it’s compact, reliable, and easy to use in the backcountry.

Final Thought

Montana rewards those who are prepared.
Respect the wildlife, plan ahead, and you’ll experience something truly raw and unforgettable—something that feels less like a trip and more like a real adventure.
