This has to be one of the most picturesque walks in all of Tasmania. Dove Lake Circuit in Cradle Mountain National Park is an absolute must do on your trip!

Between the idyllic boathouse and the incredible scenery of the iconic Cradle Mountain there is no shortage of breathtaking views on this 6km Grade 2 circuit boardwalk.

Take your time strolling through the alpine vegetation, admiring the landscape and taking some epic photos at this special spot.

A few things to note before you go:

  • Cradle Mountain National Park is only accessible by shuttle bus from the visitor centre between the hours of 8am and 6pm (summer) or 9am and 5pm (winter). The cost of the shuttle bus is included in your national parks pass and buses leave every 15 mins. Outside of these hours you can drive but only to Ronny Creek which is a 3km walk from Dove Lake.

  • Cradle Mountain is often covered with cloud, so if you have flexibility or time up your sleeve, allow a couple of days to visit this spot to avoid dissapointment

  • Accomodation (including camping) is very limited in Cradle Mountain, particularly in peak season. Book this as far in advance as possible. If you are camping and don't get a spot in Cradle Mountain Discovery Parks then you can free camp at Lake Gairdner campsite 30km away (on wikicamps)
