Ice Lake Basin in Colorado is a stunning 8.3-mile out-and-back trail that's 100% worth the sweat and effort. Be prepared for a challenging climb, especially in the last mile, but the payoff at Ice Lake is worth it. Just remember to pack plenty of water, snacks, and maybe some extra socks for those creek crossings!
Although the lake is most impressive with flowers in July and August, my favorite trip to date was following an early October snow prior to the lake freezing.
If you camp - PLEASE stay 200 feet from the water and utilize previously disturbed areas. Please be mindful on the tundra and don't create new camp spots.
