🥾 Mont Kaaikop — A Laurentian Gem with Breathtaking Views
Activity: Hiking & nature escape
📍 Location: Sainte-Lucie-des-Laurentides, Québec
📏 Length: 6 km (loop)
⛰️ Elevation gain: 356 m
🕒 Duration: Around 2.5 to 3 hours
🍁 Best season: Year-round — from lush green summers to snowy winter trails
Mont Kaaikop is truly one of my favorite hikes in the Laurentides. It may not be the highest peak, but as the third tallest mountain in the region, it offers some of the most beautiful panoramic views — overlooking lakes, endless forests, and distant mountains. The scenery changes with every season, making it a trail worth revisiting year after year.
The 6 km loop is just the right mix of effort and reward — a steady climb that opens up to breathtaking vistas at the summit. Along the way, you’ll find small refuges to warm up, especially nice if you visit in winter, and toilets conveniently located near the entrance. There’s a small access fee, but it’s absolutely worth it for the well-maintained trails and peaceful atmosphere.
Whether you’re hiking under the fall colors, snowshoeing through a winter wonderland, or chasing summer sunsets, Mont Kaaikop is incredibly beautiful. 🌲✨
