The U'mista Cultural Centre is a must see when visiting Alert Bay. Opened in 1980, U'mista is one of the longest running First Nation cultural facilities in BC.

The main exhibit displays potlatch items that were originally confiscated by the Government of Canada in 1921. The Kwakwaka’wakw people fought to have these sacred items returned from institutions around the world.

Plan to spend at least one hour here.
