Gion Duck Noodles

Directions

Tucked away down a narrow, dimly lit alley in the heart of Gion (doesn't sound very promising but bare with us), you'll find a real hidden treasure. This tiny, intimate spot serves up some of the most incredible duck ramen you'll ever taste, a unique fusion of Japanese and French cuisine. The rich, flavourful broth and incredibly tender duck are truly delicious and it's beautifully presented. The restaurant is very small (it only fits about 8 people at a time) so there will usually be a queue even if in the grand scheme of things it isn't actually that busy so make sure you arrive before you actually plan to eat :) The staff are also very friendly and welcoming and you can see the ramen being prepared in front of you. The menu is pretty simple and quirky (all dishes are shown in duck, orange, and cherry emojis) but the staff explain what this means when they give you the menu. Also, look out for the small duck emoji sign in the alleyway as then you'll know you're in the right place :)
