The Omeo is a 19th-century shipwreck you can swim to right off the beach! It's only around 20m out so very easy and accessible.

People paddleboard, kayak, swim and hang out here.

It's part of the Coogee Maritime Trail, an epic snorkelling trail with underwater sculptures and heaps of marine life, just a 30-minute drive south of Perth.

The beach is also patrolled, so it's one of the family friendly snorkelling spots in the area.

Good to know:

  • Best on calm mornings before the wind picks up

  • Bring your own snorkel gear, there’s no hire nearby last time we went

  • Shallow water, but fins help with the swim out

  • Free parking and toilets at Coogee Beach Reserve
