Turquoise Bay is Exmouth’s most iconic beach and it lives up to the hype, in our opinion! It's in Cape Range NP and you don’t need a 4WD to get there.
There are two snorkelling areas here, and they’re very different:
The Bay (calm and family-friendly)
Protected from the south-west wind
Gentle entry from the beach, perfect for kids and beginners
Fish and coral start right near the shore
Go early, parking fills up fast
The Drift Snorkel (stronger current, epic coral)
Walk ~100m south from the carpark to enter
Swim out, then drift north with the current (the coral is incredible!)
Exit BEFORE the sandbar where the beach curves to the right, the current is too strong after that
Best for confident swimmers, the current can be strong at times
Easy walk back along the beach after exiting
Know before going:
Entry via Cape Range NP (fees apply)
Best snorkelled on a rising tide and low swell days
Not patrolled, be aware of your limits in the drift
Reef shoes help with getting in and out, especially at the drift
