Turquoise Bay is Exmouth’s most iconic beach and it lives up to the hype, in our opinion! It's in Cape Range NP and you don’t need a 4WD to get there.

There are two snorkelling areas here, and they’re very different:

The Bay (calm and family-friendly)

  • Protected from the south-west wind

  • Gentle entry from the beach, perfect for kids and beginners

  • Fish and coral start right near the shore

  • Go early, parking fills up fast

The Drift Snorkel (stronger current, epic coral)

  • Walk ~100m south from the carpark to enter

  • Swim out, then drift north with the current (the coral is incredible!)

  • Exit BEFORE the sandbar where the beach curves to the right, the current is too strong after that

  • Best for confident swimmers, the current can be strong at times

  • Easy walk back along the beach after exiting

Know before going:

  • Entry via Cape Range NP (fees apply)

  • Best snorkelled on a rising tide and low swell days

  • Not patrolled, be aware of your limits in the drift

  • Reef shoes help with getting in and out, especially at the drift
