Shark Bay is a solid stop on a road trip between Perth and Exmouth. There is a lot to do here including 4wding, dophin interactions, fishing, beaches and more.

You could spend 2-3 days here easily.

Thing to do:

  • Monkey Mia, a coastal spot to see dolphins up close, kids love it

  • Big Lagoon

  • See Denham town

  • Check out Shell Beach

  • See the weird stromatolites at Hamelin Pool

  • Francois Peron National Park for some 4WD and remote beaches

Know before going:

  • 2WD-friendly unless you want to go to Francois Peron NP, that's 4WD-only

  • Restock in Denham, the next town where you'll be able to properly do so is Carnarvon (3-4 hour drive)

  • Entry fees apply for Monkey Mia and the parks

  • It gets brutally hot in summer, better in shoulder season
