This is the tallest lighthouse on the mainland, the end point of the iconic Cape to Cape track, and one of the best whale-watching spots in the southwest!

You can explore the lighthouse grounds for free, but you need to book a tour to go in the building and climb all the way to the top (100% worth it if you ask us, plus you'll learn about the history of the place).

Why it's worth checking out:

  • See the powerful spot where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet

  • Excellent whale-watching during the migration season (late May to August)

  • Hike a bit of the Cape to Cape track if you're keen

Know before going:

  • It's always windy out there, so a good jacket is a must

  • Tours run every 30 minutes from 9 am to 4:30 pm

  • It's a quick 10-minute drive from Augusta town proper
