This is the first proper city you hit heading north along WA’s Coral Coast, so it's an excellent stop to stock up, stretch your legs, and stay the night if you’re on your way to north (Kalbarri, Coral Bay, Exmouth, Karijini...).

You can easily spend 2-3 days in Geraldton if you're keen, as there are a few cool things to check out, mostly around history (museums, memorials, the lighthouse, etc).

But there is also surf and beaches to check out too.

Abrolhos Islands tours leave from here (by boat or scenic flight), so definitely consider booking a tour there if you're interested!
