Message from Chris and Bec (@salt.and.charcoal)

This is our top pick for beaches a short drive from town.

Crystal clear water, soft white sand, and a big granite rock you can jump off if the swell’s right.

It’s super easy to access and great for families or a full beach day setup.

Things to do there:

  • Swim, surf or snorkel

  • Chill on the sand with a book

  • Rock jump (when it’s safe to do so)

Know before going:

  • About 10 mins from town, right on the Great Ocean Drive

  • Toilets, showers, and heaps of parking

  • Gets windy in the arvo, mornings are best

Rock Safety:

Before jumping off Twilight rock consider your swimming and mobility you need to be able to swim and climb the rock. Consider the currents and tidal depth of the water it is better to jump off on a tide where there is deep enough water to jump into. The rock can be slippery. Also consider any recent shark sightings in the area. It is an unpatrolled beach so important that you only go out in the right conditions.
